During my devotion time this morning, my mind traveled to the multitude of local churches, conventions and assemblies I have attended or minister in. Going all the way back to the youth camps of my childhood and the local church services with the old wooden pews. I remembered the times of worship and the moments that I experienced the Presence of the Lord in such a special way. I also began to reminisce about the many different times the Lord has used someone to speak a word of encouragement or even prophecy into my life and ministry. This caused something to stir deep on the inside of me, especially when I recognize the difficult times we are in, and the group of children and young people who are growing up in a world that was so different than mine. With children of my own, and now grandchildren, I am more determined than ever before to continue the legacy that was passed on to me by those brave soldiers of the cross who were the mothers and fathers of not only our movement, but

Charles Finney Quotes

Sobering words from the past....the great Revivalist, Charles Finney said: "When there is a want of brotherly love and Christian confidence among professors of religion, then a revival is needed. Then there is a loud call for God to revive his work. When Christians have sunk down into a low and backslidden state, they neither have, nor ought to have, nor is there reason to have, the same love and confidence toward each other, as when they are all alive, and active, and living holy lives. When there are dissensions, and jealousies, and evil speakings among professors of religion, then there is great need of a revival. These things show that Christians have got far from God, and it is time to think earnestly of a revival. Religion cannot prosper with such things in the church, and nothing can put an end to them like a revival. When there is a worldly spirit in the church: it is manifest that the church is sunk down into a low and backslidden state, when you see Christians conform to

A long day, but blessed and favored

Today was another one of those long days filled with multiple opportunities to minister and interact with the wonderful people in Tennessee. Debra and I were up and out early this morning, and as of 11:10 p.m., I just returned home and Debra is on her way from the office. We met with ministers and I was blessed to visit with three of our pastors. Debra visited with Donna Barrett at Centennial Hospital while I traveled much of Middle Tennessee taking care of business for the State. As I conclude my day, my mind has gone to all of those who read our blog, and who we interact with on Facebook, by email and by the phone. We are blessed of the Lord to work among such wonderful people, and feel favored of the Lord to have good health and plenty of energy. I often wondered how Bishop Eugene Weakley and Sister Weakley kept up with everything going on, and the truth is that we are never really caught up. But we have been favored to have such rich relationships and have the opportunity to g

On Saturday June 5, 2010, Maury County Constable Steve Boshers was re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Constable Association (T.C.A.). Update for Donna Barrett

Donna is the spouse of Dr. Jimmy Barrett, our pastor at McMinnville (West Riverside) "Greetings in Jesus name, hope you and your family are doing well. GOOD NEWS! My wife Donna is NOT in critical care anymore, today she was moved to a regular hospital room. She is still in Centennial Hospital on the 5th floor but in a regular room. Her room number is 5130. She can only talk at a whisper for now, the doctors say that her voice will come back. She is not on respirator, feeding tube has been taken out and she is eating regular meals. She is taking a little oxygen through her nose. Physical therapy is working with her and are saying she is doing good. She has all her drainage and suction tubes out. Her heart is doing good, her vital signs are good. She is still weak but growing stronger. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS HEALING and YOUR PRAYERS. GOD Bless You and Your family. Bishop Allen Davis Update...Sunday

This afternoon Debra and I had the opportunity to visit with Bishop Allen Davis and his family at the Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland. He is recovering nicely and was moved from the surgical intensive care unit to a regular room. It was such a joy to visit with this older minister of the gospel who has given so much for the work of the Lord. As we were about to leave, I asked Brother Davis if I could pray for him, and before we could get started, he began to pray for all of us. The Spirit of the Lord moved into the room as this man of God prayed, and it was a real treat when our tears turned into laughter. What a joy it is to serve the Lord! Please continue to pray for Bishop Davis NOTE: PICTURED ABOVE ARE BISHOP ALLEN DAVIS ON THE LEFT AND BISHOP WAYNE ALLEN AT FIELDS OF THE WOOD

Attention Pastors/Local Churches

At every International Assembly, time is dedicated on the program to honor ministers who have passed away since the previous assembly. We are currently compiling a list of Tennessee ministers who have passed away since the Assembly of 2008 in Nashville. We are requesting the pastor/local churches to help us make sure no one is left out of this special time. Please email the names(s) of any minister who was a member of your church at the time of their passing to the state office at: ecmckinley@gmail.com -- Post From My iPad
