Back Home Again

Debra and I arrived home from Argentina this morning. We were given a wonderful opportunity to share in the ministry of the Church of God of Prophecy in South America this past week, and we make life-time memories, and many new friends. To experience the joy of ministry in a totally different culture than my own has once again cause my worldview to stretch a bit more. Our churches in Uruguay and Argentina struggle just like everywhere else, but it was amazing to see their love for one another, and the "gringos" from the United States was an exceptional blessing. I saw so many things during this past seven days, that it will require more than one post to share, but I hope to do that beginning next week. After rising at a little after 6:00 a.m. yesterday morning (Wednesday) we had a full day of travel in the city of Buenos Aries, and then made it to the airport just in time for our flight to the United States. While rest escaped us on the jet, we were happy to be returning

Leaving Uruguay

We have been non-stop since arriving in Montevideo, Uruguay and the surrounding cities. Because I have very limited opportunities to get on the Internet, more time passes between posts. Today, Debra and I are leaving Uruguay at about noon enroute to Buenos Aries, Argentina. We are to visit one of our churches with about 700 members and end another long day of travel and meeting the ministers and members of the area. Yesterday, I assisted in the installation ceremony for Bishop Garcia as the National Overseer, then preached the sermon to conclude the ceremonies. We have found the people loving and kind, and they appear to be very humble. We have been blessed to visit Uruguay. -- Post From My iPad

Mission trip - Argentina and Uruguay

Just a quick email to let you know we are in Uruguay, and just woke up. Yesterday we had a full day, visited two of our pastors and saw their churches in Argentina. They struggle, just like much of the country, yet they are full of faith, and seemed excited to see the Americanos. We had breakfast with one of the pastors family at their modest home, and then lunch at another pastor's churches. One thing about the churches is that they are very small physically, but seem less than accommodating for their large congregations. After this we visited at the National Overseer's home and met his wife and son. Franscisco then drove us to the airport and we barely caught our flight on time. We arrived in Uruguay safely, minus one suitcase. We arrived at the hotel in Montevideo after 10:00 pm. This morning we are having breakfast (much different than normal) which is typical here. For some reason, instead of bacon and sausage, everyone eats salami. Not much eggs, but when all el

Leonard Kendrick Funeral Services

This morning I attended the funeral service for Bishop Leonard Kendrick at the Peerless Road Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. There was a large crowd in attendance for a special homegoing celebration. In attendance was a very large group of young ministers whom Bishop Kendrick served as a mentor. Also in attendance were the General Overseer, the General Presbyters, and a multitude of retired ministers from several church movements. His family shared during the services both in song and verbal expressions. Bishop Steve Wilson, pastor of PRC, former PRC pastor and current Presiding Bishop of South Carolina, Tim Coalter and current Presiding Bishop of North Carolina, Steve Gilmer (nephew) all shared wonderful words of comfort and encouragement. Again, I am humbled that I serve with such wonderful, anointed men and women of God. -- Post From My iPhone

Lawrence Chapel

This morning, Debra and I were blessed to be with the church at Lawrence Chapel. Brother and Sister Gulledge and the congregation made us feel so special and welcome, and treated us to a nice lunch in their home. It was also a special surprise to have our District Presbyter, Dr. Freddie Harding there, along with the General Presbyter of Europe, the CIS and the Middle East, Bishop Clayton Endicott with us for worship services. Brother Harding greeted the congregation, then Bishop Endicott, and I was privileged to bring the message. After lunch, Debra and I travelled to Cleveland for the visitation services for Bishop Leonard Kendrick who passed away this week. There was a very large crowd at the visitation services. We will be attending the funeral services tomorrow morning, then returning to the office. I am constantly amazed by the love and kinship in our fellowship, and the amazing spiritual quality of our people. We are blessed. -- Post From My iPad

News from Waverly

Greetings! What a great day in the Lord! Waverly Church of God of Prophecy was blessed to have the men residents and some of their family members from the Hope Counseling Center for Sunday services. We thank the Lord for 65 in attendance. There were approximately 35 from the Hope Center and 30 Waverly folks along with some of their families and visitors. A highlight of the morning service were the testimonies of Garrett (sorry I don't have the last names) and Brian. Garrett spoke to us of his time in doing drugs over several years and then overdosing. He was pronounced dead at the emergency room with no pulse for several minutes. He shared of wandering around in a dark area with no one there and coming up to what he described as the gates of Hell. He testified that God brought him back from death and hell and gave him another chance. Garrett brought his mother and aunt to the stage. There was a time of hugging and congratulations as he told how Christ has changed him and he now wa

A Post from Debra McKinley

I had the privilege of attending a great women's ministry service yesterday morning around eight. There was around 35 young ladies and five young men. the praise and worship leader was leading us in the song, "God is good all the time and all the time God is good. I asked the leader of the service who would preach and she said she would. One by one the ladies in the congregation were called to the front to receive a gift and the rest of us would applaud. The first one called out was sleeping beauty to which there was two. Two Cinderella and two Belles. The guys were all prince charming. I couldn't help but to notice as each one went forward that our host welcomed them and told them how great it was to have them in church. And I noticed that there were some with no fame and no crowns and they received the same welcome and gifts. I was one of those in the crowd and Jesus called me out as well to His great love. Thanks Reagan for reminding Mamaw of God's grace and also f

Great News

I learned today that the Empowered church in Dickson had 254 in attendance on Sunday. I rejoice with Mike Jennette and the congregation....I will be posting more good news from across the state as I receive it. God bless.

Thank you

This morning I underwent oral surgery for a problem that has plagued me since before Thanksgiving of last year. Many of you have sent you commitment to prayers, and have inquired about the result. I want to thank all of you so much for your kindness and expressions of love. My verbal communication will be limited for a few days, but I will do my best to keep the blog updated daily. My family and I are tremendously blessed to work alongside the wonderful people of Tennessee and to have so many friends beyond our state's borders. God bless you.

1Night lock in

Bro. McKinley- Just wanted to let you know about the 4th annual 1Night lock-in held last night at the Gallatin Civic Center. Around 190 youth showed up for a night of games, fun,a lot of give aways, and a lot of food.  Robby George put together an excellent staff that was prepared to show the love of Christ to kids from across the midstate area. Pastor Bobby Peoples presented a challenge for the youth to not believe the lies the world has spoken about them but to live the truth of Christ.  Eleven  young people responded to the call to accept Christ or to be strengthened in their walk with Christ. This was followed by a challenge by Senior Camp director, Victor Rodriguez, for them to be bold in their faith and not to be ashamed.  Victor also plugged Senior and Teen Camps, inviting a large group of youth that normally do not attend our camps at Camp Hickory Hills. It was an excellent job by Robby and Beth George and their staff.  Thank you to all the volunteers from Lakeside, Bellshire,

Easter Sunday services

This morning, Debra and I joined our daughter for services at the Bellshire Church of God of Prophecy in Nashville, Tennessee. We were blessed by Lindsey's rendition of the Revelation Song and by the message of Pastor Todd Carroll. We received a warm and cordial welcome, and it was such a joy to see people there we have not met before today. The Lord is doing something special among His people, and we are grateful to be a part of what He is doing. This afternoon, I learned of people accepting Jesus Christ in their lives from across the state. We are blessed!
