Eventful Week

When I chose a topic for today's post the only word that would come to my mind is eventful. This has been a week filled with tragedy and triumph. The week began with attending the visitation services for Sister Mae Hill of the Crossroads church. Many of you know this is Myrna Moore's mother (wife of Pastor Windell Moore, Gallatin) and you may also know that many, many years ago she served as a pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy. One of our senior ministers in the state, Pastor Buna Lampley came to the Lord under Sister Hill's ministry. From there I made the trip over to Cleveland where I participated in the Leadership Development Institute hosted by Tomlinson Center. On the opening night this year I gave a brief CORE VALUES presentation, representing the Administrative Committee. On Thursday, I presented a class on "Developing Vision to Achieve Destiny." The class was very well attended and the Lord was with us in a special way. It was while we were at

LDI Begins tomorrow

We are excited about the 2011 Leadership Development Institute that begins tomorrow.  The staff of the Tomlinson Center have worked hard to put together an excellent school, with numerous instructors on multiple subjects between Tuesday and Friday. We hope that Tennessee will be represented well and remind you that its not too late to attend.

He Lives!

‎"Non est hic: surrexit enim sicut dixit. Venite videte locum ubi positus erat Dominus." Alleluia! "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." (Matthew 28:6) Because He lives....we do too.

The time in between

I've often wondered what the disciples were thinking about when they went to bed the night before the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Were they thinking about going back to their jobs as fishermen, tax collectors, etc., or were they even able to sleep? I know we can read the accounts of the crucifixion and the resurrection, but what about those times in between? I've often found myself at those "times in between." That moment right before everything turns around can seem like the most surreal ever. We struggle with the darkness of the night just hoping to get through it. But then, the morning breaks through...the light comes up and day dawns. Tonight we go to sleep knowing that He arose, and we sleep with the confidence.

Home Missions Opportunity - Livingston, TN

Greetings Church Family, I have been asked to head up a project for the Livingston Church of God of Prophecy to make needed repairs on the church building. You may have heard about termites eating the ceiling and a portion of the wall. After inspecting the damage these repairs are needed. 1. Replacing the existing ceiling with acoustical ceiling (drop ceiling) in the sanctuary. 2. Replacing the ceiling in one class room with drywall. 3. Repairing a portion of the exterior wall and banding where termites and rot has decayed the wall. 4. Painting the interior walls. 5. Paint 6. Installing new lights. 7. Repairing and painting the exterior windows as needed. On April 30 at 7:00am we will start working on this project and if all possible I need as many men that would commit to helping for as long as they possibly can. I am hoping to have most of the work completed on this day as long as help is available. If you or any men from your church can c

A Message from Juanita Weakley

"I would like to take a few moments and say a BIG 'Thank You' to Tennessee Pastors, Members, and Friends, for being so sweet and kind to me during the death of my husband, Gene. On our journey from earth to Heaven, we were blessed to be able to minister with you for (14) wonderful years. We enjoyed being with you, at your local church, home, etc., you were a great blessing to us. Many local churches sent beautiful floral arrangements, some of you sent personally, many many cards, phone calls, and expressions of love. I will never, in this life, be able to repay you for your kindness to me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the greatest people on earth, in my book. My special thanks to Brother and Sister McKinley for all they did. He even canceled (out of town) appointments to be with us (Jeff, Regina, and me). They were at our home continually ministering and helping me. I could not have made it without their help. Their son, Shau

Pastoral Change - Lebanon

Recently, Pastor Richard A Neal, Sr and his wife Pat announced their retirement from active pastoral ministry. The Neals are not strangers to Tennessee but are loved and respected across this state and by your overseer. This was not a hasty decision, and the Neals will continue to minister, but in a different ministry. We know that they will be a blessing. I am pleased to announce the appointment of Larry D. Meadors, Jr. to serve as the new pastor of the Lebanon church. Larry and his family have been serving in the Carthage area in a new church plant and have welcomed the opportunity to serve the wonderful people at Lebanon. This change of ministry will take place on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011. Please join me in prayers for both families as they transition into this new chapter of ministry.

Video Tribute - Bishop Weakley

This clip was played during the funeral services for Bishop M. Eugene Weakley, former state overseer in the Church of God of Prophecy. While it is only still photos, listen closely to the outtakes of the sermon and you will realize that although this was delivered in the early 1980's it is still relevant today.

After a little rest...

After ministering at Bishop Weakley's funeral services on Friday, my family and I took a couple of days off to rest and renew ourselves. It has been some time since we were able to do this, but I can assure you that it was long overdue. During this time of reflection, I had several times of weeping and then rejoicing that my spiritual dad has gone to heaven. While we have thousands of instructors in our life, we don't have many spiritual fathers. That is what Bishop Weakley was to me and so many others...a spiritual father. I want to be that type of man.

He Makes Beautiful Things

A few-months-ago, I conducted a series of revival meetings services at the Keith Street Ministries church in Cleveland, Tennessee. I was blessed so much by the congregation, by the friends of the local church, and those who attended from other churches. However, there was something that I learned while there that I haven't forgotten. Josh and Missy Dasher and the worship team there sang a song called Beautiful Things during a portion of the service that really caught my attention. In fact, you might say it "flipped a DNA switch" in me that I didn't realize was there. The song has become one that I listen to during difficult times, especially in sad times. If is from a group called GONGOR that is based in the Pacific Northwest. I LOVE THIS SONG...and if you are having a difficult time, I hope it will minister to you just as it has to me. I love all of you:
