2012 Men's Retreat

Dear Pastors and Men’s Ministry Leaders, I am excited to announce and send to you the 2012 Men’s Retreat application. We are excited about this year’s retreat. We hope you join us this year and bring some men who have never attended, so they can experience a time with God and men growing in Christ. “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13 NKJ “I Will” is our theme this year and our goal is to challenge men to be stronger as men of God in their personal walk, family, community and Church. It is time for men of God to rise up and accept the challenge. This year we have an exciting line up of speakers and events: April 20th – 21st @ Camp Hickory Hills Friday - Registration begins @ 4pm Steak Dinner @ 6pm Spirit Filled Worship Keynote speaker – Bishop Paul Holt Saturday - Breakfast Speaker – Bishop Tim McC

Emerge Youth Conference (Southeast United States)

The past few days have found us at the Ridgecrest Conference Center near Black Mountain in North Carolina. The International Offices youth ministries sponsored this event. Along with special musical guests and bands, the youth of the Church of God of Prophecy have once again demonstrated excellence and worshiped with open-hearts. The Lord genuinely moved during the conference and young lives were impacted. Tennessee was represented well and participated in the entire conference. What a privilege it is to serve with such wonderful people.

Special Prayer Request - Retired Pastor Richard Lovvorn

I learned this afternoon that Pastor Richard Lovvorn will be undergoing open-heart surgery tomorrow in Nashville. I spoke with Sister Johnnie this afternoon and she reported that the surgery is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Please join me in prayer for Brother Richard and for his family. Please pray for a successful surgery and that God will guide the surgeon, nurses and all technicians involved in the surgery, and to bring to their minds the things they have learned.

Update on Woodrow Forsythe

Today, Debra and I visited Pastor Woodrow & Wilma Forsythe at the Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He did indeed have a stroke but seems to be progressing. I ask all of you to continue to pray for Brother Woodrow. A very special thanks to Dr. Freddie Harding, the District Presbyter and several of the pastors in the area visiting him while I was undergoing a medical test. Also, Sister Wilma reports that their church at Mayland have been wonderful to visit and help with the work. I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful family, the Church of God of Prophecy.

Update on Pastor Woodrow Forsythe

I had the opportunity to speak with Wilma Forsythe tonight concerning her husband, Pastor Woodrow Forsythe. He is currently in the Crossville hospital, having suffered a stroke. We are asking for everyone to join us in prayer tonight. I will post more information as I receive it.

North American Overseers Meeting

This past week, Debra and I attended the North American Overseers Meeting in Tampa, Florida. This conference convenes from time-to-time for the overseers to meet and develop policies for our states, to fellowship with one another and to hear from special guests. Bishop Randall Howard, our General Overseer was with us and a member of the BDP committee, and both gave great presentations. I was challenged personally to continue to raise the bar of ministry in Tennessee, but also to remember how difficult it is for some of our other states/regions to carry out the simplest of ministry. This is due primarily to the lack of resources and a financial system that still doesn't meet the needs adjustment. Today, Debra and I return to Tennessee. Its always good to get back to Good Ole' Rocky Top.
