The time in between

I've often wondered what the disciples were thinking about when they went to bed the night before the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Were they thinking about going back to their jobs as fishermen, tax collectors, etc., or were they even able to sleep?

I know we can read the accounts of the crucifixion and the resurrection, but what about those times in between?

I've often found myself at those "times in between." That moment right before everything turns around can seem like the most surreal ever. We struggle with the darkness of the night just hoping to get through it. But then, the morning breaks through...the light comes up and day dawns.

Tonight we go to sleep knowing that He arose, and we sleep with the confidence.

Come Down From That Ivory Tower

Hebrews 11 has become known as the "Hall of Faith." The reason is quite simple. The writer spends a great deal of time giving a role call of the heroes of the faith. After all, this chapter is about faith, and what better way to teach faith than to illustrate with some real-life examples. Mos of the people in this chapter are well-known, at least by anyone who spent time squirming in a Sunday School class as a small child, or who watched the late-night movies on the local channels featuring their stories. Who were they? Abel, Enoch and Noah. Abel pleased God with his excellent offering, Enoch was so close to God that he actually walked with God to the point that one evening, while walking God said to Enoch, "we are closer to my house than we are yours, so why don't you just go home with me?" I am pleased to announce the appointment of Pastor Brian Sutton to serve as the new Senior Pastor of the Peerless Road Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. Brian comes to us from the Cliff Haven Church in Sheffield, Alabama. We welcome Brian and his wife Renee and their two children, their daughter Tayler and their son Will.
