Empowered Ministries

On Monday I posted that this report would follow. It is the first of four events I will be reporting on:

On Sunday morning, I was overjoyed to participate in the official organization of the Empowered Ministries church located in Dickson, Tennessee. For two years, we have watched as Pastor Mike and Rhonda Jennette have worked tirelessly to bring this day of beginnings about.

The service was opened by Pastor Mike Jennette, and followed by worship, and a greeting from District Presbyter, Bishop Gary Riley. In the message, I preached on the topic, "The God of Covenants." After the message and review of the Church of God of Prophecy, 79 people joined the church by covenant, and two transfers of membership were received, bringing the organization total to 81 members of the local church.

Great things are ahead fo this congregation, and I am so happy to have be a part of such a great new beginning!

Pictured here are most of the new membership.

I became a member of Empowered this past year. I love Pastor Mike and this Church family. We have grown even larger since January. We usually average over 100 on Sunday mornings. The worship team and children's classes are great and have grown alot also. New adult classes have also been formed recently. I am proud to be a member of Empowered and am thankful for our Pastor and his family. --Torrey S. Shelby

I bacame a member of Empowered this past year. Empowered has grown alot since January. We now average over 100 on Sunday mornings. And it seems like we are growing by the week. I believe it is because the Church family has such a great Pastor. Pastor Mike Jennette is a very down to Earth man. He has lived his life and had his faults and overcame things to become a great man of God. The Church turns no one away and welcomes everyone in with open arms. God has definetely put something great in Dickson,TN with Empowered and Pastor Mike.
The Youth and Childrens classes are great and are growing. New adult classes have been formed. I see a new face every week in these classes. People looking to learn about God and people looking for direction in their lives. Thank you Empowered for helping me find my path.

Come Down From That Ivory Tower

Hebrews 11 has become known as the "Hall of Faith." The reason is quite simple. The writer spends a great deal of time giving a role call of the heroes of the faith. After all, this chapter is about faith, and what better way to teach faith than to illustrate with some real-life examples. Mos of the people in this chapter are well-known, at least by anyone who spent time squirming in a Sunday School class as a small child, or who watched the late-night movies on the local channels featuring their stories. Who were they? Abel, Enoch and Noah. Abel pleased God with his excellent offering, Enoch was so close to God that he actually walked with God to the point that one evening, while walking God said to Enoch, "we are closer to my house than we are yours, so why don't you just go home with me?" Of course, Noah built an ark (according to God's instructions) that saved mankind from total destruction. Then there was Abraham...the father of the faithful. He
