Chaplaincy Training at the International Assembly



The Church of God of Prophecy Chaplaincy Ministries will be conducting twelve hours of Chaplaincy Training Classes August 10 & 11, 2008 as an add-on to the International Assembly in Nashville, Tennessee. Chaplains Don Yancey and Richard Guy, both from Arkansas, will be the primary instructors. The classes will be held in the Renaissance Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee beginning at 4:00 P. M. on Sunday, August 10th and will end Monday evening, August 11th. Location TBA. Each person to complete the program will receive a Certificate of Training. Registration cost is $30 per person. This course is designed for pastors, ministers and church workers who are serving their communities as chaplains or who plan to establish a chaplaincy program in their local community. Those completing this practical, relevant training will be given basic information which will create the interest for additional training and a desire to begin their own local chaplaincy ministry to their communities in such settings as hospitals, nursing homes, law enforcement agencies, jails and prisons, public safety, hospice associations, rescue missions, etc.

ADDITIONALLY,

The Church of God of Prophecy Chaplaincy Ministries will be conducting a four hour Chaplaincy Orientation on Friday afternoon, August 15, 2008, during the Assembly in Nashville, Tennessee. The Orientation will be held in the Renaissance Hotel, beginning at 1:00 P. M. and will end at 5:00 P. M., location TBA.

Five (5) areas of the Chaplaincy will be presented by chaplains representing each of these ministries: Prison/Jail Chaplaincy; Hospital/Hospice Chaplaincy; Fire Chaplaincy; Law Enforcement/Police Chaplaincy; and the Military Chaplaincy. They will provide answers to the following questions: How does one become a chaplain? What are the qualifications? What does a chaplain actually do during a typical day? What are the challenges and the benefits of serving as a chaplain?

Come Down From That Ivory Tower

Hebrews 11 has become known as the "Hall of Faith." The reason is quite simple. The writer spends a great deal of time giving a role call of the heroes of the faith. After all, this chapter is about faith, and what better way to teach faith than to illustrate with some real-life examples. Mos of the people in this chapter are well-known, at least by anyone who spent time squirming in a Sunday School class as a small child, or who watched the late-night movies on the local channels featuring their stories. Lee University News Article: Dr. David Horton Dies Suddenly on Choir Tour: Funeral is Saturday Funeral services for Dr. David Horton have been scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God. The family will receive visitors Friday at Rush Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Dr. David Horton, a veteran member of the Lee University music faculty, died suddenly Monday evening following an apparent heart attack. Horton was in Nassau, Bahamas, on the first day of a post-commencement ministry tour with Campus Choir when he was stricken. His wife Virginia was with him as they returned to their hotel following dinner when he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to a hospital. "We are all stunned and deeply saddened by this unexpected loss," said president Dr. Paul Conn.
