Fields of the Wood

The 2006 summer has been very busy at Fields of the Wood. Our staff has been working hard to keep the Park presentable for all our guests. The gift shop and café have served hundreds of people with their gift-shopping needs and hunger pains. It has been an exciting experience to meet our visitors from across the U.S. as well as guests from Canada, Central America, South America and many other countries from around the world. We enjoyed a wonderful time in the Lord on Heritage Day Celebration commemorating June 13, 1903. Our General Overseer, Bishop F.S. Fisher Sr. was present and blessed everyone with his word of encouragement “Vision Now” – “Spirit Driven”. Peerless Road Pastor, Bishop Tim Coalter delivered an inspiring and uplifting message. We were also blessed to have Tennessee Harmony from Cleveland, TN lifting up the name of our Lord in song. Although it was a very ‘hot’ day, it was a glorious day.

Various events this season have included gospel singings in observance of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends as well as Fourth of July celebration of our Independence as a Nation and our Dependence on God through Jesus Christ our blessed Savior.

There were a good number of our church people visiting Fields of the Wood before, during, and after the General Assembly in August. Thanks be to God that they were able to visit the place of their church’s heritage.

Of course, there is always the ongoing maintenance, repairs, grass cutting, weed trimming, painting, and etc. On September 16th our local High School Girls basketball team along with the Girls basketball team from a college near Johnson City, TN converged on Fields of the Wood to donate their time and labor as a mission project. WOW! What a day it was! We supplied them with scrapers, brooms, paint brushes, paint, rollers, etc. and they went to work. These young ladies, along with their coaches scraped, cleaned and painted all of the steps on Ten Commandment Mt. and Prayer Mt. as well as the arch ways to both mountains. We are very thankful for their acts of kindness, hard work, and blessing toward the ministry of Fields of the Wood.

Our baptismal pool has been busy this summer as well. While it is impossible to monitor and keep a record of the number of baptisms that occur, I can report that this facility is used every week almost without exception. To mention a couple of events; on the weekend of July 22nd there were 33 people baptized and on the weekend of September 16th there were 8 baptized.

Worship services may happen at any given time especially on weekends by various local church groups visiting the Park. It is a joy to say the least, to worship with God’s people as they visit here at Fields of the Wood. Bishop Wayne Hall, FOW Director

Come Down From That Ivory Tower

Hebrews 11 has become known as the "Hall of Faith." The reason is quite simple. The writer spends a great deal of time giving a role call of the heroes of the faith. After all, this chapter is about faith, and what better way to teach faith than to illustrate with some real-life examples. Mos of the people in this chapter are well-known, at least by anyone who spent time squirming in a Sunday School class as a small child, or who watched the late-night movies on the local channels featuring their stories. Who were they? Abel, Enoch and Noah. Abel pleased God with his excellent offering, Enoch was so close to God that he actually walked with God to the point that one evening, while walking God said to Enoch, "we are closer to my house than we are yours, so why don't you just go home with me?" Of course, Noah built an ark (according to God's instructions) that saved mankind from total destruction. Then there was Abraham...the father of the faithful. He...

I just learned, that we may have converted a "roll-tide" Alabama fan! You decide.

New Church Organized

It is always a tremendous thrill to announce the establishment of a new church. This post shares a little about our latest. On January 30, 2011 I met with the people of the Capilla De La Victoria (Victory Chapel) in Cleveland, Tennessee for the purpose of organizing and establishing what had been a mission work for well over two years. Previously, this group had met under the direction of Cliff Anderson in a part of the Peerless Road Complex. Pastor Tim Coalter (now State Presiding Bishop of South Carolina) shared with the congregation a vision of that local church planting two churches in the United States. We then joined in a partnership with the Tennessee State Office to share in the cost of rent and other needs for a period of two years. Since the inception of the idea, there were several changes. Pastor Cliff Anderson felt the need of a change and Pastor Tim Coalter was appointed to serve in another ministry. At this time Omar Velazquez agreed to assume the leadership of th...
