To State Overseers and Regional/State Youth Directors:

With the cancellation of the Pittsburgh youth conference, we want to encourage you to boost and promote CONNECT '07 Jan 19-21, 2007 in Gatlinburg, TN. It is sponsored by CCMN (College and Careers Ministries Network, a ministry of the COGOP) of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. We have confirmed participation response from Tennessee, Kentucky and our Southeast and Northeast Spanish Regions.

CONNECT '07. is a week-end designed for college and career students and young adults. We are joining together as a force for the Kingdom of God! The poster for the event and more information are at www.ccmnetwork.org . We now have college youth, and career young adults from 7 states and 3 countries as members in the ministry.

The intentions for our college youth focus is, to connect them with the ministry (CCMN), then connect them with a vibrant youth pastor or vibrant church where they are attending school. This will connect them with a "surrogate" youth group or local church which keeps them connected back to their local bodies. Hopefully, as we stay connected to them, we can turn the tide of losing our youth, and them losing their relationship with our Lord, Jesus! Our career focus is to establish these young adults with their local churches and encourage them to become a part of ministry and leadership. To make them "active" members and solidify their commitment to their local church. CCMN is also a support system for young adults. There is spiritual accountability, and a friend who they can depend on.

We have started the ball rolling. The young adults are connecting themselves. They have a desire to expand their horizons and they are looking for opportunities to minister. We are trying to make that happen. CONNECT '07 will continue to expand CCMN in new territories. College and career young adults can go to the website, www.ccmnetwork.org and download the poster and registration form, or register online. Palma Hutchinson, our General Youth Director is on board and supporting this week-end.

We hope this ministry will be of benefit in your state. The college and career youth are really taking off with this concept. It is amazing what God is doing. See You In Gatlinburg!!

Prayer Request

Yesterday and today have been filled with non-stop preparations and meetings for the General Assembly. The State/National Overseers will be traveling to begin meeting this week in Nashville. Will you please join me in prayer for travel mercies for all of those on their way to Nashville? Also, Sister Wilma Massengale is still in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. This precious lady and her family need our prayer support, and I hope you will join me in prayer for them, believing the Lord is able to meet their need.

Raising your Leadership GPA

Please note the upcoming seminar taught by Pastor Gary Lanley from Hawaii. Here is his description of the seminar: "Leadership Training Seminar The weekend before the General Assembly, Bishop Gary Langley, Pastor of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Windward Worship Center, will be teaching a 3-session leadership training seminar at Sonbright Christian Center, hosted by Pastor R.C. (Chip) Meadows. A lot of the materials I use are from some intensive training I received from Don Cousins. Improve Your Leadership GPA will help you better understand how your Spiritual Gifts, Passions and Abilities are all vital components in your successful ministry and sense of fulfillment. Among the topics to be covered… • Uncover your Spiritual Gifts • Identify your passion • Integrate your natural abilities • Learn effective ways to recruit, motivate and retain volunteers • Examine the pattern for true Biblical leadership • Move toward consistently ministering “in the zone” • Understand anointed moments • Begin ...

Come Down From That Ivory Tower

Hebrews 11 has become known as the "Hall of Faith." The reason is quite simple. The writer spends a great deal of time giving a role call of the heroes of the faith. After all, this chapter is about faith, and what better way to teach faith than to illustrate with some real-life examples. Mos of the people in this chapter are well-known, at least by anyone who spent time squirming in a Sunday School class as a small child, or who watched the late-night movies on the local channels featuring their stories. Who were they? Abel, Enoch and Noah. Abel pleased God with his excellent offering, Enoch was so close to God that he actually walked with God to the point that one evening, while walking God said to Enoch, "we are closer to my house than we are yours, so why don't you just go home with me?" Of course, Noah built an ark (according to God's instructions) that saved mankind from total destruction. Then there was Abraham...the father of the faithful. He...
