Tennessee Youth Retreat

I am posting a report (from Joshua Lynn) of the Tennessee Youth Retreat conducted last weekend. Special thanks to all who made this event a success:

Bro. McKinley,

I wanted give you and the state a praise report from POWERhouse- Tennessee Youth Retreat 2007. On Friday night we were blessed to have our state overseer Bishop E.C. McKinley speak to the youth of our state. I was so proud to have a state overseer to be transparent of how God has brought him from a life of sin to where he is today. This along with the continued encouragement to not just be somebody but be the greatest generation ever as they usher in the return of the Lord, has and will continue to raise our youth to levels they have never seen. East TN Youth Director Caleb Winstead preached on Saturday night to our youth.

During all our services the Lord filled our presence as each night our youth filled the alters. After the way the Lord moved on Friday and Saturday night we knew that the Lord has saved many. We ask for those that the Lord had saved for either the first time or had came back to God to be forgiven and rededicate themselves to God and we had over 40 stand. We praise the Lord for these 40 plus. We pray and ask the churches to support these as they start 'as a new creature' with Christ. I am also extremely encouraged when we are able to get our youth leaders together to attempt to aid them and support them. During our growth group times many of our youth leaders took part in a 'youth leaders only' group. During this time they were able to share and encourage each other as they invited the Lord to help them. I want to thank all those leaders who used this time to join in unity to lift one another in a time of 'retreat- and restoration'. I know God will continued to be blessed from this time.

We also want to thank all the staff and the leadership who supported through either working or helping transport our youth this past weekend. We have already began planning for 2008.

Come Down From That Ivory Tower

Hebrews 11 has become known as the "Hall of Faith." The reason is quite simple. The writer spends a great deal of time giving a role call of the heroes of the faith. After all, this chapter is about faith, and what better way to teach faith than to illustrate with some real-life examples. Mos of the people in this chapter are well-known, at least by anyone who spent time squirming in a Sunday School class as a small child, or who watched the late-night movies on the local channels featuring their stories. Who were they? Abel, Enoch and Noah. Abel pleased God with his excellent offering, Enoch was so close to God that he actually walked with God to the point that one evening, while walking God said to Enoch, "we are closer to my house than we are yours, so why don't you just go home with me?" Of course, Noah built an ark (according to God's instructions) that saved mankind from total destruction. Then there was Abraham...the father of the faithful. He
